They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer intern to support mechanical design and development activities for medical devices, including concept generation, modeling, and analysis of components and assemblies.ResponsibilitiesSupport mechanical design and development activities for medical devices, including concept generation, modeling, and analysis of components and assembliesWork with cross-functional teams in R&DContribute to weekly prototypingPrepare and update CAD models and drawingsAssist in design reviews and design-for-manufacturability effortsSupport testing, data collection, and documentation to meet regulatory and quality requirementsCoordinate with project managers on timelines, milestones, and deliverablesLearn and apply best practices in medical device development, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teamsSkillsStrong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with understanding of mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processesProficiency in Machine Design, including design of mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for reliability and safetyHands-on experience or coursework with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, drafting, and design iterationExposure to Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, data analysis, and documentationBasic Project Management skills, such as task planning, time management, and coordination with cross-functional teamsPursuing or holding a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related disciplineAbility to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and familiarity with GD&T is a plusStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and commitment to qualityEffective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a lab and manufacturing environmentInterest in medical devices or regulated industries; prior internship or project experience in this field is advantageousBenefitsHealth benefits.Stock options.8 weeks PTO a year.Company OverviewVoltas provides accelerated medical device development manufacturing all under one roof, one project manager, one budget, one timeline, everything in house.
