They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design reactor structures and components, coordinate with engineering teams, and mentor junior engineers while applying nuclear industry best practices.ResponsibilitiesDesign of reactor structures and components from requirements through final designCoordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutionsPerform scoping analysis and calculations for design optionsInterface with the team’s engineering analysis activitiesPresent equipment and components design results for design reviewsAssess technical merit of solutions provided by team members, including leading design reviewsInterface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoringSupport continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunitiesSkillsB.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalentMinimum of eight years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experienceWorking experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section IIIExperience writing design specificationsExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYSExcellent writing and communication skillsStrong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinkerAbility to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problemsAbility to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work weekThe successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamworkTravel Required: 0-10%Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person statusFamiliarity with CAD, SolidWorksBenefitsInsurance plan options (HDHP plan or POS plan)Education/certification reimbursementPre-tax commuter benefitsPaid Time Off (PTO)An administered 401k planCompany OverviewProtingent delivers the top-tier technical and IT professionals you need to power your business forward.
