As the Senior Manager of Software Engineering, you will oversee and manage the software development team, ensuring reliable software solutions are delivered on time and within budget for the customer-facing product portfolio.ResponsibilitiesManage the team of software engineers, leads and managers, providing leadership, mentorship, and career developmentEnsure the team has the resources, guidance, and support necessary to perform at a high levelOversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects across all software engineering teamsCoordinate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, set timelines, and allocate resources effectivelyEnsure proper resource allocation for new and sustaining development and for resolving Customer-impacting issuesCollaborate with principal engineers and architects to ensure that software design and implementation meet high standards of performance, scalability, and maintainabilityImplement training and best practices to drive continuous improvement of technical solutionsLead recruitment efforts to hire top engineering talentFacilitate a smooth onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are quickly integrated into the team and productiveBuild team of high-ownership engineers and managersLeader of continuous improvement initiatives in the software development process, adopting best practices and tools to enhance team productivity, code quality, and delivery speed. Implement Agile or other methodologies as neededServe as the primary point of contact between the engineering teams and other departments (e.g., Product, QA, DevOps)Ensure effective communication and alignment on project goals, timelines, and technical requirementsWork with senior leadership to define the long-term technical vision and strategy for the teamContribute to the overall engineering roadmap, aligning team efforts with broader business goalsOversee budgeting for engineering projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with company objectivesManage external contractors or vendors if necessaryAccountable for team progress and reporting out team statusProactively identify potential risks or bottlenecks in projects across all engineering teams, developing mitigation strategies and solutionsSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering12+ years of experience in an R&D Software/Digital environment10+ years of experience in the design and development of software systems for web, mobile, cloud (Azure) and desktop including C#/.Net, Microsoft Full StackProven track record of managing software teams, hiring and retaining talent, and cross-functional collaboration and leadership8+ years experience in managing or coaching engineersExperience in Agile methodologies for process improvement and efficiencyExperience performing cybersecurity risk assessments, threat modelling, and risk mitigationsOccasional travel to Customer sites and/or Team meetingsAdvanced degree in Engineering or related field desiredEngineering and/or leadership experience within a healthcare or other regulated industryCertification or training coursework in software securityAgile or SCRUM certificationsExperience with WCP/WPFCurrently residing in Eastern or Central Time zoneBenefitsMarket Competitive PayExtensive Paid Time Off and (9) added HolidaysExcellent Healthcare, Dental and Vision BenefitsLong/Short Term Disability Coverage401(k) with a company matchMaternity and Paternity LeaveAdditional add-on benefits/discounts for programs such as Pet InsuranceTuition Reimbursement and continued education programsExcellent opportunities for advancement in a stable long-term careerThis position is also bonus and LTI eligible.Company OverviewSTERIS is a leading provider of infection prevention and other procedural products and services, focused primarily on healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device Customers.
