[Remote] Senior Legal Counsel – Marketing & Advertising Law

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal guidance on advertising, promotional activities, branding, and regulatory compliance while supporting innovative marketing initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.ResponsibilitiesAdvise marketing and commercial teams on advertising, promotions, brand marketing, and consumer-facing communicationsReview and approve marketing materials across digital, social media, print, influencer, and paid media channelsCounsel stakeholders on advertising claims, substantiation requirements, comparative advertising, and risk assessmentsSupport promotional programs including contests, sweepstakes, loyalty programs, and cause-marketing initiativesProvide legal guidance on global marketing campaigns and coordinate with external counsel when necessaryAdvise on brand protection and brand defense strategiesMonitor evolving advertising, marketing, and privacy regulations across key marketsDevelop policies, playbooks, training materials, and best practices related to marketing compliancePartner with privacy and compliance teams regarding data use, consent management, cookies, tracking technologies, and personalized advertisingManage responses to regulatory inquiries, competitor challenges, and marketing-related disputesAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on marketing strategy and legal riskCollaborate closely with sales, marketing, digital, communications, and commercial teams on product launches and campaignsProvide practical, solution-oriented legal advice in a fast-moving business environmentSkillsJ.D. from an accredited law schoolLicensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction8–10+ years of legal experience with significant focus on advertising and marketing lawExperience reviewing and advising on advertising and promotional materialsStrong knowledge of: FTC advertising regulations, CAN-SPAM requirements, State consumer protection and UDAP laws, NAD guidance and industry standards, Intellectual property matters including trademarks, copyright, and brand protectionExperience supporting digital marketing, social media, influencer campaigns, and emerging marketing technologiesStrong contract drafting, negotiation, and counseling skillsAbility to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and prioritiesPrior in-house legal experienceExperience within life sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, animal health, medical devices, or other highly regulated industriesWorking knowledge of privacy laws including: CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, COPPAExperience advising on marketing technology platforms, data partnerships, analytics, AI tools, and emerging digital technologiesExperience supporting global teams and international business operationsProject management experience and a passion for process improvementCompany OverviewHudson Talent Solutions is a talent solutions provider offering recruitment, RPO, and talent advisory services.
