[Remote] Senior Embedded Engineer

The role involves leading firmware architecture and development for next-generation access control readers and credential solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with security standards.ResponsibilitiesLead embedded firmware architecture, design, and development for new and existing access control reader platformsEstablish and maintain internal firmware ownership, including source control, development processes, and scalable build environmentsCollaborate with hardware, software, and cross-functional teams to define system requirements and support successful new product introductions (NPI)Ensure firmware solutions align with dormakaba's security standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and product governance processesCoordinate and manage relationships with external firmware engineering partners while driving the transition to in-house development capabilitiesSkillsBachelor's degrees in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field5+ years of embedded firmware experienceExpert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with experience developing firmware in RTOS environments (ThreadX, Zephyr, and similar platforms)Strong knowledge of secure firmware design, cryptographic systems, and the integration of RFID, BLE, OSDP, and related access control technologiesExperience with STM32 microcontrollers or similar embedded architectures, including firmware optimization for power efficiency, responsiveness, and reliabilityHands-on expertise with embedded development and validation tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers for debugging and testingMaster's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field7+ years of embedded firmware experienceExperience developing firmware in RTOS environments such as ThreadX or ZephyrBenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance coverage options.
