[Remote] Senior Director, Solution Architecture – Hyperscale Network & OSP

The Senior Director, Solution Architecture will lead the design and delivery of hyperscale network and fiber infrastructure solutions, partnering with major cloud and technology companies to create scalable and reliable infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary technical advisor for hyperscale and strategic customersEngage directly with executive and senior technical stakeholders to define long-term infrastructure strategiesTranslate business, capacity, and operational requirements into scalable solution architecturesGuide customer decisions regarding network topology, fiber strategy, resiliency, and service delivery modelsSupport strategic planning initiatives involving cloud connectivity, AI infrastructure, and digital transformationLead the design of complex OSP infrastructure, including: Long-haul fiber networks, Metro fiber networks, Campus fiber systems, Data center interconnect architecturesDesign route diversity strategies, failure domain isolation models, and resiliency frameworksEvaluate build-versus-lease approaches including: Dark fiber, IRUs, Lit transport servicesPartner with construction, engineering, and provider teams on feasibility analysis, permitting, and cost evaluationDesign and validate large-scale network architectures including: Optical transport systems, DWDM platforms, High-capacity wavelength services, IP backbone infrastructure, Peering and global transit architectures, MPLS, VPLS, EVPN, and SD-WAN solutionsDesign multi-region and multi-cloud connectivity frameworks including: AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud InterconnectSupport development and integration of Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) offeringsProduce architecture deliverables including: Detailed design documentation, Bills of materials, Network diagrams, Geospatial infrastructure drawingsUtilize Bluebeam, GIS platforms, and network planning tools to validate designsLead architecture reviews and enforce engineering standardsSupport RFPs, RFIs, customer proposals, and complex solution development activitiesPartner with Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Product teams to ensure successful deliveryCollaborate with carriers, fiber providers, and ecosystem partnersDrive alignment across multiple stakeholders and competing prioritiesSupport strategic initiatives involving network expansion, cloud services, and hyperscale deploymentsSkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience10–15+ years of experience in network architecture, solution architecture, or sales engineeringExperience supporting hyperscale environments, Tier 1 carriers, or large infrastructure providersExperience designing and delivering solutions for hyperscale customers such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, or similar organizationsExperience presenting complex technical solutions to executive and senior technical audiencesStrong understanding of network infrastructure, optical transport, and fiber systemsDeep expertise in Outside plant (OSP) design and constructionRoute diversity and resiliency engineeringFailure domain modelingLong-haul, metro, and campus fiber networksExperience with GIS-based design and spatial analysisExperience with DWDM platformsOptical transport systemsHigh-capacity wavelength services (100G, 400G, 800G+)MPLS, VPLS, EVPN, and SD-WAN architecturesCarrier Ethernet services and MEF standardsExperience designing Direct cloud connectivity solutionsMulti-cloud architecturesHybrid network environmentsFamiliarity with Network-as-a-Service platforms and consumption modelsAdvanced proficiency with BluebeamGIS platformsNetwork design toolsCapacity planning platformsBenefitsA Culture of Karma – We are self-motivated by karma, ensuring our actions contribute to a positive, supportive and forward-thinking environment.Industry Leading Designs – Work with the most advanced data center technology on the planet and be a part of emerging technology development.Flexibility & Remote Opportunities – Whether in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, we offer the technology and support to keep teams connected and productive.Career Stability & Growth – In this expanding industry, we invest in our people, providing opportunities and advancement in a stable, growing company.Generous Benefits Package – Switch provides comprehensive coverage for you and your family that can be tailored to fit your personal needs, and more!Company OverviewSwitch was founded in 2000 by CEO Rob Roy and stands at the forefront as the premier data center designer, builder and operator, owning 100% of its land and facilities.
