[Remote] Senior Director, Revenue Accounting

The Planet Group is seeking a Senior Director, Revenue Accounting who will lead the global revenue recognition function and ensure compliance with US GAAP. This role involves overseeing revenue accounting practices, partnering with various teams to support business models, and providing strategic insights to senior leadership.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships to anticipate the financial and revenue recognition implications of business decisions in advance, ensuring consistent and predictable outcomesPartner closely with Sales, Legal, Business Units, and Finance teams to shape deal structures and pricing strategies in alignment with revenue recognition requirementsLead and influence enterprise-wide initiatives, including ERP transformation, process optimisation, and adoption of new accounting standardsOwn the design and continuous improvement of the order-to-cash revenue accounting process, including oversight of revenue automation systems, subledger configuration, and integration with the ERP environmentContinually identify opportunities to drive efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve the quality and timeliness of financial insightsAct as a trusted advisor to senior finance and business leaders, influencing decisions that have broad Organizational impactOwn global revenue recognition policies and practices, ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 606) across subscription, SaaS, perpetual licensing, and ELA arrangementsProvide guidance and approval on complex and non-standard customer contracts, ensuring appropriate accounting treatmentPrepare and maintain technical accounting position memos covering complex revenue arrangements, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, standalone selling price (SSP) methodology, and contract modificationsOversee the integration of revenue recognition into the broader financial close and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and scalabilityPartner with FP&A to ensure alignment between revenue accounting, financial reporting, and forecastingMaintain a strong control environment, including appropriate accruals, reserves, and reconciliations, deferred revenue, and contract assets, ensuring audit readiness at all timesLead accounting support for the company’s transition from perpetual licensing to subscription-based models, ensuring scalable and compliant revenue practicesSupport the expansion and optimisation of Enterprise License Agreements (ELAs), advising on structure, risk, and accounting implicationsPartner with cross-functional teams to evaluate new business models, product offerings, and commercial strategiesEnsure accounting implications are proactively identified and embedded into strategic decision-makingLead engagement with external auditors, serving as a primary point of contact for revenue recognition and broader accounting mattersContribute to Audit Committee reporting, providing clear insights on financial performance, risks, and control effectivenessEnsure the design and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance standard)Support corporate governance processes and ensure adherence to company's global standardsLead a global team ensuring strong execution and alignment across
