The Senior Director, Payer Strategy and Operations will lead the development of partnerships with payers, focusing on value-based care strategies and enhancing the company's market presence through compelling narratives and strategic insights.ResponsibilitiesEvolve and operationalize Boulder’s approach to value-based contracting, including Total Cost of Care frameworks and risk structuresPartner closely with Finance to evaluate contract opportunities and ensure strong economic alignment (you won’t own the models, but you need to know what matters)Translate performance data and clinical outcomes into clear, compelling market opportunitiesHelp define pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategy for payer partnershipsTurn complex data, research, and outcomes into narratives that resonate with payer executivesOwn and continuously improve core commercial materials (pitch decks, QBRs, RFP responses, etc.)Partner with product, clinical, and operations teams to translate Boulder’s capabilities and workflows into clear, payer-facing messagingCollaborate with Product to develop and refine compelling demo scripts tailored to health plan audiencesAct as a strategic partner on large, complex opportunities—helping structure deals, shape solutions, and guide pricing approachEnable the sales team with the positioning, materials, and support needed to close sophisticated value-based contractsOwn and evolve the systems and processes that support our commercial organization (e.g., Salesforce, pipeline tracking, deal desk)Establish clear visibility into pipeline, performance, and growth opportunitiesLead reporting and insights for the Commercial team, SLT, and Board to drive data-informed decisionsLead reporting for the Commercial team, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and the Board to drive data-backed decision-making and executionSkills8+ years of progressive leadership in management consulting or healthcare strategy with experience in the mechanics of Value-Based Care (VBC)Familiarity with Medicaid managed care organizations, state-level healthcare dynamics, and businesses shaped by public policy / regulatory factorsAbility to synthesize complex clinical and financial datasets into a cohesive, persuasive commercial narrativeGeneral understanding of CRM (Salesforce) data structures and business intelligence tools to translate raw data into actionable performance insightsApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this timeOffice Requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standardsBenefitsEquity grants in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave)Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and short-term disability benefits designed to take care of our employees and their familiesMental Health Services via insurance coverage, including Talkspace and EAP for continuous care4 weeks of vacation accrued per calendar year with a tenured increase to 5 weeks at 2 years of employmentSick leave accrued at 1 hr for every 30 hrs paid9 Paid Holidays per year12 weeks of 100% paid parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child (after 6 months of employment)401(k) retirement savingsRemote friendly with hardware provided to complete your work dutiesCompany OverviewBoulder is a telehealth provider of treatment and long-term support for people with substance use disorders It was founded in 2017, and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
