The Senior Director will lead research efforts in Infrastructure and Operations, advising CIOs on best practices and modernizing enterprise platforms while delivering high-quality insights to clients.ResponsibilitiesServe as an authority on I&O strategy for CIOs around the globe, guiding clients on best practices for managing services, evaluating I&O vendors and measuring performanceAdvise CIOs and their Heads of I&O on modernizing enterprise platforms to enhance agility and performanceDeliver research and recommendations to CIOs on infrastructure technologies, markets, and emerging trendsDemonstrate knowledge/experience of Platform engineering, platform operating model, DevOps, technical debt, AI infrastructure, geopatriation and cloud to CIO audiencesAnalyze industry trends, threat intelligence, and technology disruptions (e.g., quantum computing, agentic commerce) to forecast future risks and inform strategic planningScale positions and insights to different audiences including industries and midsize enterprisesPresent I&O research and thought leadership in 1-to-1 conversations and at Gartner events, webinars, and client workshops, engaging with C-suite executives and technology leadersSupport clients in evaluating and selecting I&O vendors and solutions tailored to the unique needs of industriesCollaborate with other Gartner Analysts to develop comprehensive, actionable research (including Magic Quadrants) that addresses the top I&O priorities of CIOs in these sectorsCreate innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged “must-have insights” contentDevelop new insights and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests that accelerate the client's ability to actDevelop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forwardDemonstrate thought leadership in establishing Insights positions across a team of analystsBring provocative, independent insights to Gartner leaders that can evolve the course of a research agendaResearch, analyze and predict market trends and shifts to provide clients and vendors with actionable insightsProvide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactionsCreate and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefingsSupport BTI and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help Insights teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their businessProvide high quality and timely content peer reviewBuild credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategyActively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the Insights communityIdentify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and BTI provide excellent service deliveryBe a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team membersBe client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner insights and interactionsSkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred12+ years of relevant field or industry experience as CIO or Head of Infrastructure, in one or more of the following disciplines: Developing an I&O Strategy, Transitioning and Operating IT Services, Optimizing IT Service Management Processes, Automating OperationsDemonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholdersStrong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverablesDemonstrate excellence in research and writing abilityStrong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questionsProficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challengesStrong communication skills - able to explain complex concepts concisely and simplySubject matter expertise;
