[Remote] Senior Director, Accounting

They are seeking a Senior Director of Accounting who will oversee various accounting functions, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of financial processes while leading a team of accounting professionals.ResponsibilitiesSteward the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across all operational accounting areas (excluding Revenue and AR)Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, maintaining accuracy while driving efficienciesOversee journal entry review, account reconciliation, and variance analysis; establish and enforce consistent standards across the teamPartner with FP&A, Tax, Revenue Accounting, and the international accounting team to support accurate consolidation and reportingSupport software capitalization policy governance in partnership with Finance leadershipServe as the operational steward of the end-to-end financial close, coordinating across all accounting functions to ensure timely and complete period-end closeDevelop and maintain a detailed close calendar; track milestones, surface risks proactively, and drive accountability across the teamIdentify and implement process improvements through automation, standardization, and cross-functional collaborationReport close status and key metrics to the CAO on a regular cadenceSteward the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across all operational accounting areas (excluding Revenue and AR)Oversee the comprehensive balance sheet reconciliation program, ensuring all accounts are reconciled timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policyMonitor and drive resolution of aged or unresolved reconciling items; escalate as appropriateServe as a primary point of contact for external auditors on various types of inquiriesProvide accounting oversight for all payroll-related activity, including accruals, benefits, equity compensation, and payroll tax liabilitiesPartner with HR and Payroll Operations to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of all compensation-related costsManage payroll-related balance sheet accounts and support internal and external auditsOversee the end-to-end cash reconciliation process across all bank accounts and payment platformsEnsure timely identification and resolution of reconciling items in collaboration with TreasuryMaintain strong controls around cash accounting and reportingLead the AP function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reportsManage 1099 and other regulatory compliance requirementsEnforce payment controls and segregation of duties; drive AP automation and process efficiency initiativesOversee the accounting for all procurement activities, including Angiβs purchase order process and corporate card programPartner with Procurement and Legal to ensure proper accounting treatment for contracts, spend commitments, and vendor arrangementsManage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of accounting leaders and staff across all functional areasContribute to the broader accounting strategy and represent the function in cross-functional leadership forumsServe as a primary liaison to external auditors for all operational accounting areas during quarterly reviews and annual auditsSupport ERP upgrades, system implementations, and finance transformation initiativesOwn SOX compliance, internal control documentation, and remediation efforts across all areas of responsibilitySkills12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role managing teams across multiple accounting functionsCPA certification, with a Big 4 or large regional public accounting backgroundDeep technical knowledge of US GAAP, with hands-on experience across GL, close management, payroll accounting, cash and accounts payablePrior experience in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance responsibilitiesA strong track record of driving operational efficiency, close accuracy, and process consistency at scaleStrong leadership and people development skills, with the ability to build a high-accountability team culture that embraces the use of AIExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsProficiency in ERP platforms (NetSuite experience is preferred)Experience in technology, marketplace, or home services industriesExposure to multi-entity or multi-currency accounting environmentsBenefitsThis position will be eligible for a competitive year end performance bonus & equity packageFull medical, dental, vision package to fit your needsFlexible vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need itPet discount plans & retirement plan with company match (401K)Company OverviewAngi is a technology-based tool that helps homeowners find home improvement and property renovation professionals.
