[Remote] Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will architect and implement data systems, develop robust data pipelines, and collaborate across teams to optimize workflows and drive best practices in data management.ResponsibilitiesData Pipeline Development & Ownership: Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines from diverse sources including APIs, AWS native databases, and third-party systems with the focus on data quality, reliability, and performanceData Orchestration & Modeling: Leverage expert-level experience with dbt and Snowflake to structure, transform, and organize data for improved accessibility and usageMonitoring & Troubleshooting: Implement and maintain comprehensive data monitoring and alerting processes to ensure pipeline reliabilityTechnical Mentorship: Collaborate with the team on technical design discussions and share best practices to support scalable, reliable, and well-structured data solutionsCross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams to deliver data solutions that drive business value and to communicate complex technical topics to a variety of audiencesImplementing Standards: Establish best-in-class processes, implement CI/CD for data pipelines, reproducible analytics, and rigorous code review, testing, and documentation standardsSkills6+ years of experience in data engineering or related fieldsProficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python)Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (RDS, Redshift, S3, Lambda, etc.), Snowflake, GCPHands-on experience with building and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines, monitoring data quality and debugging data workflowsAdvanced-level proficiency with dbt and experience with data orchestration tools like Dagster or AirflowHands-on experience with data integration from APIs and CDC processesDeep understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and performance optimizationExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teamsA proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a passion for solving complex data challengesBenefitsTopstep is an engaging working environment which ranges from fully remote to hybrid.Seven Company-paid Holidays and generous Family Leave.Paid time off is front-loaded.Competitive 401(k) matching, health, dental, and vision insurance is offered for full time employees.Vacations are encouraged with a bonus for taking 5 consecutive days.Employee referrals are bonused.Topstep offers a food and groceries budget and contributes towards health and wellness.Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.Company OverviewTopstep is a financial organization that enables resource traders to develop and learn in the trading industry.
