They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will design, build, and evolve enterprise data platforms and pipelines to enable analytics and data-driven decision making, collaborating closely with various teams to meet business and analytical needs.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, and downstream consumptionDevelop and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows across structured and semiâstructured data sourcesEngineer and maintain curated, analyticsâready data models (e.g., dimensional, canonical, or domainâoriented datasets)Ensure data solutions meet performance, reliability, availability, and recoverability expectationsImplement data solutions aligned to Penn Mutualâs cloud data platform strategy, including cloud storage, compute, and analytics servicesApply data architecture patterns that support data lakes, lake houses, and analytical warehousesPartner with Enterprise Architecture to ensure data solutions conform to technology standards, integration patterns, and security requirementsContribute to platform evolution decisions, including tooling selection, architectural patterns, and modernization initiativesEmbed data quality checks, validation rules, and observability into pipelines to ensure trusted dataSupport data governance and stewardship practices, including metadata management, lineage, and controlled data accessEnsure data solutions comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial services and insuranceCollaborate with analytics, reporting, and data science teams to enable selfâservice analytics and advanced insightsTranslate business requirements into wellâdesigned data structures and datasets that are easy to consume and reuseSupport downstream use cases including dashboards, regulatory reporting, operational analytics, and advanced modelingPromote engineering best practices including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and documentationDrive continuous improvement through evaluation of emerging data technologies and industry trendsSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform developmentStrong proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language commonly used for data engineering (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala)Develop AWS serverless solutions using Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, SNS/SQS, EMR, Lake Formation, API Gateway, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, S3Extensive experience designing and building data pipelines and analytical data modelsHandsâon experience with cloudâbased data platforms and distributed data processing conceptsSolid understanding of data architecture patterns, data integration, and performance optimizationStrong problemâsolving skills with the ability to analyze complex data challenges and implement effective solutionsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to both technical and nonâtechnical stakeholdersExperience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Knowledge of Infrastructure as a Service concepts and tooling (Cloud Formation, Terraform, etc.), deployment automation tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bamboo, etc.)Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile or ScrumCompany OverviewPenn Mutual helps individuals and families do more in life by creating solutions that deliver the complete value of life insurance.
