The Senior Data Analyst role focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights for various stakeholders, requiring strong analytical skills and experience in insurance data.ResponsibilitiesUse SQL and other analytical techniques to investigate business questions and anomalies across policy, premium, coverage, claims, and BDX dataAnalyze, reconcile, and validate BDX/bordereaux submissions and partner/carrier feeds, identifying gaps, mapping issues, and reporting impactsWork with business stakeholders to identify and align data initiatives with business goals to determine data analysis and reporting needsPartner with stakeholders to build recurring reports and dashboards using BI tools and fit-for-purpose datasets; use SQL to source and validate logicLead root cause analysis to explain data variances or emerging business trends; communicate findings with clarity and urgencyCollaborate with data engineers to understand pipeline logic, recommend field-level enhancements, and support fixes across BDX ingestion, mapping, and transformationDefine data models and structures that align with business requirements, ensuring data is organized and accessible for analysisEstablish data quality rules, validation checks, and cleaning procedures for insurance datasets, including BDX submissionsMonitor and escalate data quality issues with recommendations for resolutionOwn and document key business metrics, calculations, and definitions for downstream consumersMentor and support junior analysts with analytical logic, quality checks, and data storytellingMaintain and update metadata that describes the data assets, ensuring proper understanding and usage of the dataCreate process flows and documentation for data collection, transformation, and analysis workflowsSkills7+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytical roles4+ years of experience working with commercial or specialty insurance data, including BDX/bordereaux, policy, premium, and claims datasetsHands-on BDX/bordereaux validation, reconciliation, or mapping experienceStrong SQL and Excel skills; experience with large datasets, normalized schemas, and data validationComfortable working with BI tools and building end-user reporting solutionsStrong critical thinking, communication, and documentation skillsExperience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teamsFamiliarity with the insurance policy lifecycle, premium development, claims data, and downstream BDX reporting/analyticsExposure to actuarial concepts such as triangle analysis, loss development, or policy cohorting (without needing formal actuarial experience)Experience analyzing across multiple systems or data grains (e.g., BDX, carrier, MGA, broker, or claims feeds)Ability to travel up to 5% of the yearBenefitsRemote First Work Environment (US Based)Medical, Dental, Vision401K, 401K MatchLife and Disability BenefitsUnaccrued Paid Time Off11 Paid HolidaysEmployee DiscountsEmployee Assistance ProgramEducational Assistance ProgramEmployee Referral ProgramPaid Parental LeaveCompany OverviewCapital, Technology and Operational Resources to Help You Start Your Own Program.
