[Remote] Senior Cloud Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the delivery of a cloud-native platform on AWS, working closely with the Solution Architect and guiding engineering teams in implementing event-driven architectures.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement cloud-native microservices supporting RPC-based appointment and scheduling workflowsDevelop and maintain Kafka/MSK event producers and consumers to support event-driven data flowsImplement and manage event routing patterns including topic segmentation, schema versioning, and replay strategiesBuild and integrate real-time WebSocket-based streaming solutions enabling live UI updates without refreshImplement dead-letter queue handling, retry strategies, and resiliency patterns for event processingCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support interoperability with external healthcare and VA systemsContribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using Terraform, Jenkins, and PackerDeploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and DockerImplement observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and KibanaEnsure secure system design leveraging Vault, IAM, and Zero Trust principlesSupport Agile delivery and participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussionsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team membersDrive design decisions for event schemas, integration patterns, and streaming architecturesEnsure adherence to architecture standards, coding practices, and DevSecOps processesIdentify risks and performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations for scalability and reliabilitySkills8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, software engineering, or related roles within enterprise environmentsStrong experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecturesHands-on experience with Kafka or AWS MSK (required)Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures and distributed systemsExperience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)Experience implementing real-time streaming or WebSocket-based systemsStrong understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesAbility to lead technical efforts and mentor junior engineersEligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceExperience supporting VA or other Federal environments and familiarity with enterprise compliance standardsExperience with Appian or integration with low-code platformsExperience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)Understanding of healthcare interoperability or scheduling systems is a plusSupport Agile delivery and participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussionsCompany Overviewi4DM provides full range of information technology consulting services to government and commercial clients.
