[Remote] Senior Backend Engineer - ClickStack

They are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build a high-performance observability platform, ensuring reliable data pipelines and collaborating with the community to enhance backend architecture.ResponsibilitiesShape the product: Own and build key backend services and infrastructure that power our observability platform, ensuring reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs that developers depend on every dayEngage with the community: Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, solve their challenges, and incorporate their feedback into our backend architecture and API designTackle technical challenges: Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data. You'll build the foundational services that empower engineers to crack production issues like never beforeSkills5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development, with a preference for building developer tools or infrastructureStrong TypeScript and Node.js skills (experience with Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks)Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modelingFamiliarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)A passion for open source and the developer communityExperience creating developer tooling and an eye for how to design for developersExperience with Go is a plus — you'll occasionally contribute to Go-based servicesExperience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databasesStrong opinions on observability tools and a vision for making them 10x betterFamiliarity with OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructureExperience with SDKs or client library designExposure to message queues, streaming systems (Kafka, NATS), or event-driven architecturesBenefitsFlexible work environment - ClickHouse is a globally distributed company and remote-friendly.
