This senior technical leader will shape cloud strategy, establish engineering standards, and guide teams in building secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and implementation of enterprise‑grade solutions on Google Cloud PlatformDevelop and maintain cloud reference architectures and engineering standards aligned with NYL’s security and regulatory requirementsArchitect resilient, scalable, secure, cloud‑native applicationsLead migration and modernization efforts, including re‑platforming and application transformationAct as the technical lead for cross-team GCP projectsConduct architecture reviews, provide the best engineering practices, and guide solution designProvide mentorship to engineers working within application, infrastructure, and platform teamsAct as the escalation point for complex cloud and infrastructure issuesBuild and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Harness CI/CDImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using TerraformAutomate deployment, provisioning, monitoring, and operational workflowsDrive adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to reduce manual toil with templates for operational work and secure release practicesEnsure all solutions meet New York Life’s standards for security, privacy, and regulatory complianceImplement IAM, network security, encryption, and key‑management best practicesPartner with enterprise security, risk, and compliance teams to ensure proposed technical solutions match with existing enterprise policies and guardrailsEstablish and enforce guardrails for cost management and governanceLead the implementation and optimization of GCP services, including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, and Cloud StorageAccount for any GCP implementation with MLOps and Agentic AI tools in Vertex AIEnhance observability through Cloud Monitoring and Logging and New RelicOptimize performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency across environmentsPartner with product teams, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable cloud solutionsContribute to cloud roadmaps, modernization strategies, and technology evaluationsSupport proofs‑of‑concept and the adoption of emerging cloud capabilitiesSkillsA bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience8+ years of software, cloud, or infrastructure engineering experience4+ years of hands‑on experience with Google Cloud PlatformProven experience designing cloud‑native and hybrid architecturesExpertise in GCP core services and networkingExpertise in Kubernetes (GKE) and containerizationExpertise in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesExpertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)Expertise in Python, Java, Go, or similar programming languagesExperience working in Agile/DevOps environmentsGCP Professional certifications (Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Data Engineer)Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, or healthcareStrong background in security, identity management, and compliance frameworksExperience working in hybrid or multi‑cloud environments such as integrating services and resources across GCP and AWSKnowledge of SRE, observability, and reliability engineeringBenefitsOvertime eligible: ExemptDiscretionary bonus eligible: YesSales bonus eligible: NoEmployees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonusEmployees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive programWe provide a full package of benefits for employees – and have unique offerings for a modern workforce, including leave programs, adoption assistance, and student loan repayment programsCompany OverviewFor over 180 years, we’ve helped turn your biggest dreams into milestones that last a lifetime.
