[Remote] Senior Accountant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Confidential company is seeking a Senior Accountant to assist with the completion of the monthly financial statement close process. The role focuses on premium, claims, and commission journal entries and reconciliations, while also supporting cross-functional initiatives and driving process improvements.ResponsibilitiesPrepare entries, perform analysis and reconciliations to support monthly close process with a focus on premium and loss reporting, including the reinsurance components; prepare worksheets to substantiate and document account balancesUses excel extensively to generate pivot tables and lookups to sort and accumulate data to get in format that can be used to prepare monthly journal entriesAssist with preparation of quarterly and annual Statutory StatementsParticipate in annual external audits, as well as ad-hoc auditsReconcile premium and loss general ledger accounts to detail source data and related reports to ensure additions and/or revisions to accounts are appropriately reflected in all GL-based reports and queries, and update procedures as neededContribute to the maintenance of policies and procedures related to internal controls in place and ensure compliance with the internal control standardsDevelop strong understanding of relevant Statutory accounting guidance, and maintain current with emerging pronouncements and their impact on the Companies’ financialsCommunicates with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others as needed in a courteous and professional mannerSkills4+ years of insurance accounting requiredGAAP and STAT knowledge, practices and proceduresUndergraduate studies in accounting or finance; accounting major and degree preferredProgress towards CPA preferredCompany OverviewThis page is owned and operated by Viral Audience.
