They are seeking a Security Compliance Policy and Guide Writer to document operational reference and security compliance documentation for a large government client, including agency policies and technical baselines.ResponsibilitiesEnsures all Agency documents align with the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), other Federal guidance such as Executive Orders, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memoranda, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) publications, and the Agency’s internal guidance on the security of information and information systemsInterfaces with federal employees and contractors to perform the required activitiesAssists in presenting updates and the status of deliverables to the clientDevelops spreadsheets (Google and Excel) for tracking metrics reported about FISMA, assessment tests both for Assessment & Authorization (A&A) and continuous monitoring, and development/maintenance of Google FormsGathers and writes technical documents for the installation, operation, and maintenance of information systems in clear and concise languageEnsures that technical documents are written in a clear, readable format that can be understood by technical and non-technical personnelEnsures documentation properly references organizational policies as neededPerforms quality assurance reviews and edits applicable materials as neededAcquires and verifies knowledge by working closely with stakeholders engaged in developing new products and services as well as making improvements to existing documentation, observing the performance of information system pilots, examining drawings and notes, and reviewing rewrites of articles, manuals, or similar publicationsEnsures conformance to existing IT standards by revising the text and making recommendations to changes in scope where necessaryWorks with system owners and SMEs to understand existing and planned technologies and standardsWrites or edits documentation to include materials for reports, manuals, briefings, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, and software and hardware documentationUtilize project management tools (such as Trello or Jira) to manage and track assigned tasksSkills3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for IT solutions, including operational guides and compliance documentation5+ years of related experienceA Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering or related degree OR two (2) additional years of professional experience in lieu of degreeMust understand both NIST special publications, FISMA, and other federal laws and regulations and be able to digest them while translating them into policyAbility to rapidly and effectively research Federal regulations, laws, and guidance and apply them in the editing and writing of policies, technical guides, and procedural guidesExperience using Google Workspace (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs) a plusWorking knowledge of IT standards and frameworks (at a minimum, NIST and ISO)BenefitsValiant pays 99% of the Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage for Full-time EmployeesValiant contributes 25% towards Health Coverage for Family and Dependents100% Paid Short Term Disability and Life Insurance Policy for Full-time Employees100% Paid Certifications401K Matching up to 4%Paid Time OffPaid Federal HolidaysWellness & Fitness ProgramValiant University 6 Online Education and Training PortalFSA programs for: Medical Costs, Dependent Care, Transit, and ParkingReferral BonusesCompany OverviewValiant Solutions is an information technology company that offers Information Security services.
