[Remote] Secondary Social Studies Curriculum Developer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Miaplaza, Inc. is dedicated to elevating online learning by creating an accessible and inclusive homeschool curriculum platform. The Secondary Social Studies Curriculum Developer will design and develop engaging educational content for 6-12th grade students, ensuring materials are pedagogically sound and aligned with lesson objectives.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop social studies educational content (video scripts, assessments, and written materials) for 6-12th grade students
• Ensure content is pedagogically sound, engaging, age-appropriate, and accessible for students
• Write clear and measurable lesson objectives, and align teaching materials to meet objectives
• Use technology, such as Google Slides, Sheets, Docs, Figma, and screencasting software
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
• Continuously evaluate and refine content based on feedback and educational outcomes
• Collaborate on special projects and assignments
Skills
• A minimum of 2 years of full-time social studies classroom teaching experience in core social studies subjects (Civics/Government, Economics, World History, US History or other relevant subject) at the 6-12th grade level
• A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Education or in a social studies-related field
• Familiarity with writing lesson objectives and creating objective-aligned lesson materials
• Experience designing well-structured and effective lessons
• Ability to differentiate instruction to make learning accessible, engaging, and age-appropriate
• Strong understanding of what makes a lesson engaging
• Experience using technology to support instruction, including Google Slides, Sheets, and Docs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially written
• Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback
• Proven ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines
• High motivation, a proactive attitude, and a tendency to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
• High standards of integrity and transparency
• Access to a computer/laptop (with camera) and reliable high-speed internet connection
• You have an active teaching certification and/or you have completed professional development or training in curriculum design and pedagogy
• You have hands-on experience designing and writing curriculum, including writing scripts for completely asynchronous video lessons
• You have experience teaching and designing lessons related to: Social studies electives like Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy & Ethics, Social studies AP courses, Development of social studies skills such as chronological thinking and evaluating perspectives/bias
• You have experience analyzing and transforming data into actionable goals that have positively impacted your students
• You have experience with screencasting software or online instruction
