The Sales Assistant will handle customer inquiries related to Group Benefits insurance and support the sales team by managing data entry and project management tasks.ResponsibilitiesProvides support for customers by handling inquiries via calls/emails/chats, and demonstrates knowledge, understanding and experience to handle volume of internal and or external customer inquiries may include escalationsResolves complex questions/concerns and refer other inquiries to appropriate areas as neededProject Management: To initiate, execute, communicate and document projects as neededMay act as a liaison to other departments where follow-up will be required to meet customers needsAssists in identifying process improvement opportunitiesEngages, inspires, educates and mentors, new hires and incumbentsCollaborates with other areas to identify, analyze, and improve processesInputs and tracks into the appropriate databasesRespond to sales inquiries across multiple channels (calls, emails, chats, faxes), demonstrating advanced product and business knowledgeResolve complex questions from agents, escalating issues as neededInitiate, execute, and communicate on projects as requiredCollect, enter, organize and verify accuracy of data provided in sales process documentsGenerate and maintain data reports as it relates to sales production and additional metricsCollaborate with other departments to ensure accurate documentation and maintain confidentiality of sensitive informationDemonstrate critical thinking through the sales processIdentify sales process improvements and provide innovative solutionsMentor new hires and existing team members through acquired skillsetsFoster positive business relationships with coworkers, agents and additional business partnersEfficiently prioritize sales inquiries with multistep processesSkillsHigh School Diploma or GED (Required)0-2 years experience (Preferred)Advanced product knowledge and insurance regulations knowledgeExcellent working knowledge of Nationwide's systems required to perform the roleAbility to sell and service policies (based on requirements of the department)Ability to diffuse customers and agentsExcellent working knowledge of billing concepts and Nationwide billing systemsEffective oral and written communication skillsIntermediate problem-solving skillsAbility to adjust schedule according to business needExcellent working knowledge of company systems and sales processesAbility to prioritize workflowStrong oral and written communication skillsIntermediate problem-solving skillsAbility to be external client facingDetail oriented as it relates to data accuracyAbility to manage multiple daily tasks and multi-step data entry processesProficiency in office software including word processors and spreadsheet applicationsOne or more years of customer service or data entry experience preferredBenefitsMedical/dental/visionLife insuranceShort and long term disability coveragePaid time off with newly hired associates receiving a minimum of 18 days paid time off each full calendar year pro-rated quarterly based on hire dateNine paid holidays8 hours of Lifetime paid time off8 hours of Unity Day paid time off401(k) with company matchCompany-paid pension planBusiness casual attireAnd more.Company OverviewNationwide, a Fortune 100 company based in Columbus, Ohio, is one of the largest and strongest diversified insurance and financial services organizations in the United States.
