Epic Charter Schools is a unique learning environment providing non-traditional education through individualized self-paced instruction. The RISE Academy Teacher will monitor a caseload of high school credit recovery students, providing virtual instruction and adapting curriculum to meet individual student needs.ResponsibilitiesWork with RISE Academy students within their certification area to provide instruction in a virtual learning team-teaching environmentMeet with caseload students weekly, either face-to-face or virtually, in office hours type-settingUse technology as an everyday tool for teaching, learning, and communicatingDirects the distribution of curriculum to studentsTeach students and their families how to use online curriculum and supplemental curriculumProvide consultation and/or technical assistance to students and familiesAdapt instruction and curriculum to the needs of the studentServes as a liaison between the school and student/familyAssists students/families with the interpretation of Epic Charter School’s policies and proceduresCommunicate with each student through Zoom/Google Meets, instant message, email, and/or phone on an as-needed basisWork to coordinate, schedule, assess, and implement appropriate instruction for each studentConducts assessments of student needs, including those with English as a second languageCounsels students to promote self-awareness, self-identity, and positive social and academic skillsIdentify opportunities for additional tutoring for assigned studentsCommunicate with students/parents, in a professional manner, through conferences and other means to discuss the student’s progress and interpret the school programPerform administrative tasks for day-to-day management including tracking student grades, managing schedules and meetings, and conferring with the school, while scheduling and monitoring student course progressTranslate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instructionReview coursework for every student assignedDesign, deliver, evaluate, and revise a planned sequential developmentally appropriate program in accordance with district standards and indicatorsSelect and requisition books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies for the student and assist with the collection of school property when the relationship between the school and the student endsMaintain grades on the required database for the school recordSystematically develop, deliver, and evaluate student planning (credits vs. scheduling needs) addressing academic goal setting and transition plansDevelop and follow Individual Learning Plans to assist in developing measurable goals for the continuous improvement of assigned studentsStay current with relevant research and teaching/learning trends as required to improve academic achievementUnderstand school resourcesMaintain updated curriculum trainingAnalyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and teaching methodsDevelop guides and other support materials necessary for relevant programs while locating additional learning resourcesWork collaboratively with College and Career Readiness, GSS, and other High School-related departments for student successWork collaboratively with Student Support Counselors, SEL personnel, and other student support personnel for student social, emotional, and physical well-beingWork closely with other teachers in the development of lesson plans that encompass the use of technologyWork collaboratively with other teachers, instructional coaching staff, and instructional design staff for continuous improvement of credit recovery curriculaMonitor student progress with principal-approved assessmentsFormulate new strategies to ensure that teaching to Epic Charter School standards is evident throughout the academic school yearReport suspected child abuse/neglectEngage in regularly scheduled meetings with the supervisor and team to collaborate, share updates, and address prioritiesSkillsAbility to collect and analyze data from a variety of sourcesStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenDemonstrated ability to think creatively and demonstrates leadership abilitiesAbility to build effective relationships, work collaboratively and gain credibility quickly to instill confidence in teaching abilityStrong decision-making, organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skillsUse effective positive interpersonal communication skillsResolve issues and conflictsStrong technology skills in up-to-date computer software including Zoom/Google Meets, word processing, and spreadsheetsCurrent on new instructional technologiesAbility to coach, mentor, and teach students in high school age groups, including those student up to 21 years of ageAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with othersDemonstrates self-discipline and initiativeAbility to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelinesBachelor's Degree in Education or a related field requiredAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documentsAbility to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business communityAbility to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writingAbility to effectively present information to students, families, and supervisorsAppropriate MS/HS Math skills if applying for a math position.
