[Remote] Revenue Accountant (Remote, North America)

Soutron Global is seeking a Revenue Accountant to manage the end-to-end revenue recognition process for their SaaS subscription and professional services revenue streams. This role involves ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing journal entries, and collaborating with various teams to maintain accurate revenue records.ResponsibilitiesReview new and amended customer contracts to determine revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606, including identification of performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and timing of revenue recognitionPrepare and post monthly journal entries related to subscription revenue, professional services revenue, deferred revenue, and related balance sheet accountsMaintain and reconcile the deferred revenue schedule, ensuring accuracy of beginning balances, billings, revenue recognized, and ending balancesPrepare account reconciliations for revenue-related balance sheet accounts including deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivableResearch variances in revenue-related accounts and provide explanations of actuals vs. forecast to managementSupport the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process with accurate and timely revenue reportingDraft technical accounting memos documenting the revenue treatment for non-standard or complex contractual arrangementsCollaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to understand contract structures, amendments, and renewalsPrepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits related to revenue recognitionAnalyze subscription metrics including ARR, MRR, churn, and net revenue retention to support management reportingAssist in the development and documentation of revenue recognition policies, procedures, and internal controlsSupport system and process improvements related to billing, revenue recognition, and ERP workflowsAssist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as directed by the VP of Finance or ControllerSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMinimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience, with direct experience in revenue recognition under ASC 606Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and US GAAP principlesExperience with SaaS revenue models including subscription, usage-based, and professional services revenue streamsProficiency with ERP and billing systemsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and financial modelingStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft technical accounting memosAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgmentAbility to collaborate cross-functionally with non-finance stakeholdersCPA preferred or actively pursuingSaaS or subscription-based business experience strongly preferredPublic accounting experience a plusExperience with NetSuite, Sage, or similar platforms preferredExperience working in a private equity-backed environment is a plusCompany OverviewBloom Equity Partners is an investment firm focused on B2B Software companies.
