[Remote] Remote Physical Design Engineer

The role involves responsibilities such as full-chip or block-level physical design, timing closure, and collaboration with various teams to ensure design feasibility and performance goals.ResponsibilitiesOwn full-chip or block-level physical design from synthesis to GDSIIPerform floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing, and optimizationDrive timing closure, power optimization, and signal integrity improvementsAnalyze and resolve DRC/LVS, IR drop, EM, and noise issuesCollaborate with RTL, architecture, and verification teams to ensure design feasibility and performance goalsWork with foundries and EDA vendors to adopt best practices and methodologiesDevelop and improve automation scripts and flows for design efficiencyParticipate in design reviews and tapeout activitiesSkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field5–10+ years of experience in physical design / VLSI backendPlace & Route tools (Cadence Innovus, Synopsys ICC2/Fusion Compiler)Static Timing Analysis (STA) (PrimeTime, Tempus)Synthesis tools (Design Compiler, Genus)Solid understanding of physical design concepts: floorplanning, CTS, routingLow-power design techniquesTiming closure methodologiesScripting skills in TCL, Python, or PerlExperience with advanced nodes (7nm, 5nm, 3nm)Knowledge of high-performance CPU/GPU/AI accelerator designsFamiliarity with signal integrity, IR drop, EM analysisDFT/scan insertion awarenessExperience in chip tapeout cyclesExposure to SoC-level integrationStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsCompany OverviewQuest Global is an engineering solutions company that offers a range of services in the engineering and technology domains.
