[Remote] Reinsurance Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

They are seeking a Reinsurance Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to focus on reinsurance accounting and financial analysis for life and annuity products, ensuring accurate financial reporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams.ResponsibilitiesSupport research and documentation of technical accounting matters related to reinsurance under GAAP, U.S. Statutory, and Bermuda Statutory frameworksPrepare analyses of accounting treatments for new and complex transactions, including impacts to financial statements and operational processesCoordinate with external auditors as needed to support reviews and discussionsLead key components of the reinsurance accounting close process, including:Preparing and reviewing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and reporting schedulesAnalyzing variances and delivering management reports and key financial outputsDemonstrate deep expertise in assigned areas while maintaining a strong understanding of related processes and cross-functional impactsDrive ad hoc initiatives and special projects, including:Supporting the implementation of new reinsurance treatiesIdentifying and executing process improvements and operational efficienciesCollaborate cross-functionally with Actuarial, Tax, Legal, and other partners to evaluate and operationalize new reinsurance arrangementsSkillsHigh School Diploma is required, plus a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance3+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting of life and annuity insurance and reinsurance, with exposure to complex reinsurance arrangements (such as modco, coinsurance with funds withheld, etc.)Proficiency in the fundamentals of accounting principles for life insurance and annuity productsExperience in public accounting, including preparation, review, and audit of financial statements and related footnote disclosuresGoal-oriented with a track record of task and project completionAbility to work a flexible schedule, as the need arises (quarter and year-ends, ad hoc projects)Proven ability to interact effectively and communicate complex reinsurance accounting guidelines and policies in an understandable manner to various levels of management, staff, and auditorsHigh expectations for themselves, with an irresistible urge to exceed themAbility to perform assignments independently and adapt to changing prioritiesCreativity, problem solving, and decision-making skillsA positive attitude and sense of humor!3+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting of life and annuity insurance and reinsurance, with exposure to complex reinsurance arrangements (such as modco, coinsurance with funds withheld, etc.) is preferredCPA or CPA-eligible, preferredBenefitsFlexible full-time or hybrid telecommuting arrangementsPlan for your future with our 401(k) plan and take advantage of immediate vesting and company matching up to 6%Paid time away including vacation and sick time, flex days and ten paid holidaysGive back to your community and double your impact through our company matchingCompany OverviewSymetra is a financial service company that provides retirement, employee benefits, group life, and disability insurance.
