[Remote] Quality Assurance Engineer III (LOC)

The Quality Assurance Engineer III will design, develop, and maintain test cases, execute various testing processes, and collaborate with developers to ensure high-quality software delivery.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain manual and automated test cases using Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright, contributing to 90%+ automated test coverage targets for all new and modified codeExecute functional, regression, and accessibility testing every sprint, validating stories against acceptance criteria and blocking merges that fail automated test gatesRun SonarQube quality gate checks and Axe/pa11y accessibility scans on every merge request, escalating findings that require remediation before story acceptanceValidate API contracts and backend service behavior using Postman and Rest AssuredCollaborate with developers during sprint planning to define clear acceptance criteria and test criteria upfront, ensuring the Definition of Done includes automated test coverage and successful test runsParticipate in CI/CD pipeline instrumentation via GitLab, helping shift quality left so defects are caught at commit time rather than in higher environmentsDevelop reusable test scripts and automation frameworks in Java and JavaScript that reduce repetitive manual testing effort across workstreamsProactively write exploratory and edge case test scenarios for new functionality, including third-party integrations such as Pay.gov, login.gov, and deposit format validationParticipate in SAFe ceremonies and contribute to overall program testing strategy across program domainsSupport recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviewsSkills4+ years of relevant QA engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degreeMust meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation as a condition of employmentHands-on experience as a test lead with demonstrated ability to drive testing strategy across a delivery teamProficiency with test automation frameworks including Selenium, Cypress, and PlaywrightExperience writing automated tests in Java and JavaScriptWorking knowledge of accessibility testing tools including Axe and pa11yExperience with API testing using Postman and Rest AssuredHands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLabSolid understanding of agile testing methodologies and how QA fits within a SAFe or sprint-based delivery modelPrior experience with federal agency digital services or government contracting environmentsExperience with performance and load testing tools such as NeoLoad, JMeter, or TaurusFamiliarity with consumer-driven contract testing using Pact or similar frameworksExposure to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and Section 508 compliance testingExperience working within SAFe or scaled Agile delivery frameworksFamiliarity with Cucumber Gherkin or behavior-driven development testing approachesExperience with manual assistive technology testing using JAWS, NVDA, or VoiceOverBenefitsCompany-subsidized health, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible PTO401K with employer matchPaid parental leave after one year of serviceEmployee Assistance ProgramCompany OverviewAd Hoc is a digital services company that helps the federal government better serve people.
