Leidos is seeking a Public Health Interoperability Lead to support CDC public health data modernization and interoperability initiatives. The role involves leading technical efforts to design, develop, and implement data exchange solutions across various public health systems while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure efficient data integration and modernization.ResponsibilitiesLead interoperability and data integration activities across CDC public health systems, platforms, and partner organizationsDesign, develop, implement, and maintain data exchange workflows, APIs, integration services, and data pipelinesSupport secure and efficient movement of data between surveillance, research, laboratory, operational, and reporting systemsDevelop and maintain interface specifications, data mappings, integration documentation, and technical proceduresSupport onboarding and integration of new data sources, systems, and external partnersSupport CDC data modernization initiatives and enterprise integration effortsLead migration of legacy SAS-based analytics, reporting, and data management workflows to modern cloud-based platformsSupport modernization efforts involving 1CDP, EDAV, Databricks, Azure, Python, R, and related technologiesSupport implementation of scalable data lake, lakehouse, and modern analytics architecturesCollaborate with Data Governance, Data Quality, and Operations Leads to ensure interoperability solutions align with program standards and requirementsDesign, develop, test, and maintain integration and interoperability solutionsDevelop and optimize ETL/ELT processes, APIs, data transformation workflows, and cloud-native data processing solutionsDevelop reusable code, technical documentation, and integration patternsTroubleshoot and resolve data integration, interoperability, performance, and data exchange issuesParticipate in code reviews, testing activities, and deployment processesMentor junior developers and technical staffAnalyze business and technical requirements related to interoperability, integration, and data exchangeIdentify technical risks, integration challenges, and opportunities for modernization and process improvementCoordinate testing, validation, troubleshooting, and resolution of interoperability issuesParticipate in architecture reviews, modernization planning activities, and technical working groupsCoordinate with CDC stakeholders, technical teams, data providers, and external partnersSupport technical assistance activities related to interoperability and data exchangeDevelop technical documentation, user guidance, and operational proceduresPresent technical recommendations, architecture approaches, and modernization strategies to leadership and stakeholdersSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics, Public Health Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline8+ years of experience supporting public health data integration, interoperability, data engineering, analytics, or modernization initiativesHands-on experience developing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and integration workflowsStrong SQL skills and experience working with relational and analytical data platformsHands-on experience with Python, PySpark, R, SAS, or comparable analytics and data engineering languagesExperience supporting cloud-based analytics, data engineering, or modernization environmentsExperience supporting large-scale data integration and modernization projectsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively across technical and business teamsExperience supporting CDC, HHS, or other Federal public health agenciesExperience supporting public health surveillance, laboratory, immunization, healthcare, claims, research, or programmatic data systemsExperience supporting large-scale public health data modernization or enterprise integration initiativesExperience implementing interoperability solutions using APIs, FHIR, HL7, XML, JSON, or similar exchange frameworksExperience supporting CDC modernization initiatives involving 1CDP (Palantir Foundry), EDAV, Azure, Databricks, or similar enterprise analytics environmentsExperience migrating SAS-based analytics and reporting processes to Python, R, Spark, Databricks, or cloud-native platformsExperience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, Azure SQL, and related data engineering technologiesExperience supporting cloud migration, enterprise integration, and modernization effortsExperience with Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, and related analytics
