[Remote] Project Engineering Manager

The Project Engineering Manager will lead the design and project execution of utility-scale BESS, solar, and hybrid projects, managing engineering scope, schedule, budget, and quality from project award through construction support.ResponsibilitiesOwn engineering scope, schedule, budget, and quality across utility-scale BESS, solar, and hybrid projects (10–400 MW), from project award through final IFC design and construction supportManage and direct third-party design firms and lead design reviews at each milestone (30%/60%/90%/IFC) with the Owner and Owner's EngineerReview and approve engineering design packages across all engineering disciplinesServe as primary technical contact for the Owner, Owner's Engineer, Independent Engineer, interconnecting utility, and Authorities Having JurisdictionDevelop and execute the engineering execution planMonitor progress and expenditures against schedule and budget, taking corrective action when neededLead engineering change management, RFI and submittal management, NCRs, and as-built documentationDefine and track engineering KPIsIdentify, evaluate, and mitigate technical, schedule, and operational risks; maintain a living risk register and drive mitigation jointly with the Project Manager and ClientSupport development of technical specifications and bid packages; participate in technical bid evaluation, vendor selection, and contract negotiation in partnership with Procurement, Legal, and Project ManagementPartner with Construction, Estimating, and Scheduling to ensure designs are constructible; support commissioning, performance testing, energization, and project closeoutLead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Engineers; foster a collaborative, safety-first engineering cultureEnsure all engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE (1547, 2800, 80), UL (1741, 9540, 9540A), NFPA (70, 70E, 855), ASCE, IFC and IBCTravel up to 25% as needed to active construction sites and TruGrid officesSkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent educationMinimum 5 years' experience of progressive engineering and/or engineering project management experience in power generation, T&D, substations, or industrial/utility EPC projectsMinimum 4+ years of utility-scale BESS and/or solar PV project experience, with direct exposure to projects in the 10–400 MW rangeDemonstrated experience leading engineering deliverables across the full project lifecycle (FEED through commissioning) and managing third-party design firms, OEMs, and Owner's EngineersPrior supervisory or technical-lead experience, including mentoring junior engineersStrong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environmentsValid U.S. driver's license; must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorshipEngineer-in-Training (EIT) / FE certification at minimum, with a clear path to PE licensure preferredProficiency with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project, AutoCAD, Procore, Bluebeam, Google Earth and Microsoft OfficeMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Engineering Management or a related engineering disciplinePE licensurePMP certificationExperience with ERCOT interconnection processes and market participation requirements (CAISO and MISO experience a plus)TruGrid is currently only considering candidates located in AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, ID, IL, IN, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NV, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA and WACompany OverviewTruGrid is a premier EPC and integration company that's rewriting the playbook for utility-scale battery storage and solar projects - putting integration at the forefront of our projects.
