[Remote] Principal Staff Systems Engineer

The Principal Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, and implementation support of solutions for ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for government agencies, ensuring the delivery of secure and mission-critical IP networks.ResponsibilitiesConsult with Pre-Sale Design team to set strategy, direction and costingLead and define technical network architecture designs for ASTRO 25 mobile backhaul networksLead and define technical network architecture designs for adjacent technologies mobile backhaul networksCreate and document detailed network drawingsContinually evaluate third party vendor equipment used in our portfolioWork with third party vendors/contractors to ensure delivery of requirements set forth by the designSupport the engineering community in best practices for network designsNetwork topology assessments and troubleshootingSkillsBachelor's (BS) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalentOR 7-10 Years of Experience in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalentMust be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contractsGood understanding of effective network design methodologiesExperience with troubleshooting and assessing live networksExperience with MPLS design and deploymentsExperience with LAN switching protocols: G8032 ring protectionExperience with Manufacture Hardware: Juniper, Nokia, HP, FortinetKnowledge of different media types: Metro Ethernet, Frame-Relay, Ethernet, SONETKnowledge of physical layer such as: fiber, Copper, MicrowaveExperience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications requiredExperience with use of command line and/or GUI interfaces to provision equipmentSelf motivated, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skillsWorks collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues, customers, and third party service professionalsAbility to travel as needed with limited notice (25-50%)Bachelor's (BS) Degree is preferred.
