[Remote] Principal Software Engineer – AI Agents & Enterprise SaaS

Softworld, a Kelly Company, is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of AI agent systems within its enterprise SaaS platform. This role involves architecting and developing the core AI agent ecosystem, partnering with engineering and product teams to deliver scalable and high-performance solutions that enhance the platform’s AI capabilities.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build AI agent frameworks that enable autonomous planning, reasoning, and execution of complex multi-step tasksDevelop and maintain scalable enterprise SaaS features across the full technology stackImplement orchestration layers that allow LLMs and AI agents to interact with APIs, databases, and business systemsManage and optimize data pipelines and database interactions that power AI-driven workflowsWrite clean, secure, maintainable code while driving engineering best practices, code reviews, and refactoring initiativesDesign and implement automated testing frameworks for both traditional software components and non-deterministic AI agent behaviorsMonitor, evaluate, and improve AI model performance in production environmentsSkills10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale enterprise web applicationsDeep expertise in AI agent architecture, including planning, reasoning loops, tool usage, and autonomous task executionHands-on experience developing production-grade solutions with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Claude, or similar platformsStrong understanding of prompt engineering, context management, model performance optimization, and cost monitoringExperience building orchestration frameworks that connect AI models with APIs, databases, and system functionsProven ability to design and implement testing strategies for AI-driven and non-deterministic workflows5+ years of backend development experience using Python (Django, Flask) and/or PHP (Symfony, Laravel)Advanced SQL and MySQL expertise, including writing and optimizing complex queries for high-volume enterprise datasetsStrong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, clean code principles, and engineering best practicesExperience with model evaluation, experiment tracking, and production monitoringExpert-level proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent platformsCompany OverviewSoftworld has developed expertise across five distinct staffing and consulting practices over the past 25 years.
