They are seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to define and evolve the cloud architecture strategy for Mayo Clinic Platform, focusing on Google Cloud Platform while contributing to design and implementation efforts.ResponsibilitiesDefine and maintain the target-state architecture for Mayo Clinic Platform in GCPActively contribute to the design and implementation of complex cloud solutions, including hands-on involvement in critical systemsEstablish and enforce cloud architecture standards, patterns, and reference architecturesEnsure alignment of cloud architecture with enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirementsPartner with engineering, product, security, compliance and data teams to ensure solutions align with platform architecture and standardsServe as the primary expert in GCP, with deep, hands-on experience across compute, storage, IAM, networking (VPC design, hybrid connectivity, network security, service networking), and observability servicesConduct deep technical architecture reviews, including code, infrastructure, and deployment patternsProvide hands-on guidance and mentorship to teams implementing cloud-native and Kubernetes-based solutionsAct as a trusted advisor for complex technical initiatives and strategic programsDefine the vision, scope, and operating model for the SRE function within Mayo Clinic PlatformEstablish and operationalize service level objectives (SLOs), service level indicators (SLIs), and error budgetsImplement observability, incident management, and automation practices to improve system reliabilityDrive adoption of infrastructure as code, CI/CD, GitOps, and automated remediation strategiesEnsure platform operability, including monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance tuningSkillsBachelor's degree in a relevant information technology field or a minimum 10 years of direct full-stack engineering with increasing complexity or 5 years in a principal engineer capacity3-5 years project management, system architecture, and design3-5 years working in diverse environments utilizing Agile principles of software developmentPrincipal level experience with Hyperscale Cloud Environments and their configurations (Google preferred. AWS or Azure considered)Experience with enterprise information security systems and application in a public cloud environment.
