[Remote] Principal Information Security Engineer

This role is responsible for defining and supporting enterprise security tools, advancing Zero Trust strategies, and enhancing security capabilities across data centers and cloud environments.ResponsibilitiesMentor more junior members of the teamContribute to and enhance the bank's perimeter security programDefines security requirements for new technology implementations and assesses security solutions against those requirements along with effective integration within the broader ecosystemDesign and implementation of selected technologiesServe as a security consultant and architect on projectsParticipate in conducting security research and threat modeling, make recommendations to the IS/IT teams and oversee their implementationAssist in conducting risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and determine the impact of proposed changes to business processes, applications, and systemsEnhance Zero Trust (ZT) strategy and architectural patternsSeeking and maintaining knowledge (cross/up skill) of current and upcoming IT security technologiesAwareness of latest and common security threats and technology trendsKnowledge of virtualization and containerization technologiesSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experienceMust be able to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to management, business and IT sponsors, and technical resources in language that is appropriate for each groupEight+ years of IT work experience relevant to the position, including at least six years in a hands-on information security engineering or analyst positionExperience working with and supporting Cloud, Linux and Windows systemsSolid conceptual understanding of distributed computing principlesWorking knowledge of application and data security concepts, best practices, and common vulnerabilitiesExcellent ability to diagnose and troubleshoot accessibility issuesIndustry Standard Certifications such as, but not limited to: SANS certifications, ISC2 CISSP, and AWS are preferredFinancial industry experience is a plusBenefitsParticipate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performanceComprehensive benefits and differentiated compensation offeringsOur extensive benefits programs are designed to support the individual needs of our employees and their families, encompassing physical, financial, emotional and social well-beingCompany OverviewFifth Third Bancorp is a financial services company that specializes in small business, retail banking, and investments.
