[Remote] Principal Engineer, Compressor Module Leader

They are seeking a Principal Engineer, Compressor Module Leader responsible for the design, analysis, and evaluation of the compressor module in aviation jet engines while ensuring compliance with industry standards and program requirements.ResponsibilitiesExpertise in compressor design with industry leading analytical tools. Able to complete and support mechanical and aero analysis to assure the module meets requirementsLead engine system or component test programs from a hardware design perspective. Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validationServe as the component design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective. Advocate for component capability while understanding the trade-offs and business decisions necessary to deliver the best overall solution. Coordinate with analysis engineers and/or conduct analyses and design optimization to meet product requirementsLead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysisProvide timely communications on significant issues or developmentsParticipate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturingRole will initially be an individual contributor comfortable working in a dynamic self-directed start-up environment. As the organization grows, this role will be responsible for scaling design capability to support additional projects which may include some future team leadership. Being able to grow leadership capabilities with the role will be criticalAssure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practicesWork with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issuesSkillsBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeAt least 12 + years of experience in gas turbine component designStrong understanding of design software tools (CAD, ANSYS, CFD, etc)Experience working with compressors for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspectiveExperience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principlesFamiliarity with Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
