The role involves overseeing project performance, managing technical and administrative components of high voltage projects, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesOversee and monitor cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute power delivery project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project(s) as defined in the contractPlay a contributing role in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plansDevelop the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costsEstablish the level of technical review required for the project, selecting appropriately qualified staff to perform the required reviews, and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicableContribute to performing margin analyses, establishing margin goals and risk contingenciesCoordinate and assist with the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentation, and meetingsDevelop and update the Project Initiation/Setup Documentation including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessaryParticipate in project kick-off meetings with key stakeholdersWork collaboratively with Project Accounting to monitor and track project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for a project or an assigned portfolio of projectsOversee management of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and controlCoordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements in a timely mannerImmediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or significant client issues to senior PM staff and leadershipParticipate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholdersProvide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budgetMonitor accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue, working to address issues as neededWork with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements as appropriateComplete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staffRemain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP)Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsSkillsBachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility IndustryMinimum of 2 years applicable industry experience working and/or providing engineering services for IOUs, IPPs, Co-Ops, Munis, etcMinimum of 2 years of experience leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility scale clients for high voltage and/or extra high voltage power delivery type projectsKnowledge and experience with project management processes and tools required, including: Contract Management, External and Internal Team Meeting Management, Earned Value Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management (this includes experience with CPM project schedules such as Primavera P6 or equivalent), Financial ManagementSound understanding of project delivery process within the Power Delivery/Utility and well-defined background and experience in project managementWell-developed analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project managementCompetent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomesHighly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionallyDemonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work
