[Remote] Physical Security Engineer / Consultant

They are seeking a Consultant with expertise in designing and implementing electronic security systems, primarily focusing on healthcare and higher education sectors, to deliver technology solutions that enhance safety and efficiency.ResponsibilitiesWork within a project team to understand client needs and goals, and build familiarity with each client’s Basis of Design standards, scope, budget, and schedule for assigned tasksDesign security systems for healthcare, higher education, corporate, and other market sectorsWork with our production team to create construction packages and/or provide Bluebeam markupsWork with the other designers and subject matter experts within the firm to coordinate work and standards as required for each projectAssist with writing specifications and technology design narratives for the trade(s) you are designingAttend meetings with clients and architects to discuss project needs, timelines, and technical specificationsParticipate in virtual coordination meetings with construction teamsPerform site walks to review low voltage installationsInterpret previous Vantage design work and gain a working understanding of each project’s requirementsParticipate in the QA/QC process for your work and the work of team membersAs part of a project team, answer and review construction submittals and RFIs (requests for information) from general contractors, and other entitiesBegin building relationships with clients, architects, and industry peers through project work and firm-sponsored eventsParticipate in industry conferences and organizations, with the goal of growing your professional network and market awarenessContribute to client satisfaction and retention on active projects, recognizing that strong project delivery is the foundation of repeat work and referralsSupport proposal development for pursuits, including contributing to scopes of work and fee structures under senior staff guidanceSeek out mentorship from senior staff and begin informally supporting the development of more junior team membersActively contribute to a culture of quality, curiosity, and continuous improvement within the Vantage teamMaintain relevant industry certifications and pursue new ones that align with your growing area of focusSkills5+ years of electronic security system and infrastructure design experience in healthcare, higher education, commercial, or related project typesKnowledge of physical security technologies, design standards, codes, and best practices, regardless of whether your background is in AEC consulting, systems integration, or corporate securityUnderstanding of design and milestone delivery phases in the production of construction documents and specificationsFamiliarity with major security system manufacturers' product lines and industry-preferred solutionsAbility to perform and document site surveys and construction observationsSkilled in the use of Microsoft Office suiteStrong attention to detail and a drive for qualityComfortable working in a remote team environment and managing your own workloadExcellent collaboration, communication, and time management skillsEagerness to learn and grow, especially in fast-moving tech and engineering fieldsSouthern California candidates are strongly preferred.
