[Remote] Payroll Administrator

They are seeking a dedicated Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate and timely employee compensation, manage payroll processes, and ensure compliance with tax and labor laws.ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll for all employees using the firm’s payroll management systemReview and verify timekeeping records, hours worked, overtime, paid time off, and other pay-affecting data prior to each payroll cycleProcess and reconcile bonus payouts in accordance with approved compensation plans, ensuring accurate calculation, proper tax withholding, and timely distribution while maintaining detailed records for audit and reporting purposesCalculate and apply wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and voluntary deductions accurately and in accordance with legal requirementsProcess off-cycle payroll runs, including termination pay, correction checks, and special compensation payments such as bonuses and commissionsMaintain employee payroll records with up-to-date information on things such as pay rates, tax withholding elections, direct deposit details, and reporting structureAudit payroll data before and after each processing cycle to identify and resolve discrepancies before distributionEnsure employee and employer contribution data is transmitted in the 401(k) plan accurately and on time to the plan record-keeper following each payroll cycleServe as the first point of contact for employees with questions related to pay, deductions, tax withholding, W-2s, and pay stub discrepanciesEnsure payroll operations comply with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), state-specific overtime rules, and minimum wage requirementsOversee payroll tax filings and deposits through payroll system, including federal Form 941, state withholding and unemployment taxes, and any applicable local tax submissions on a timely basisWork with payroll provider to prepare and file year-end payroll tax documents including W-2s, W-3s, and any state or local equivalents; coordinate corrections (W-2c) as neededAssist in the preparation and filing of Form 5500 and related schedules in collaboration with the HR Generalist, the TPA and plan auditorMaintain and renew business licenses in coordination with the Finance team to ensure organizational complianceTrack Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements and manage annual Bar renewal payments for attorneysComplete and submit new Bar applications for attorneys, coordinating required documentation and applicable feesManage the annual Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification renewal processConduct quarterly tracking of Notary certifications to ensure all credentials remain current and in complianceHandles, responds to all verification of employment inquiriesHires and terminates employees in PaylocityOther administrative duties as assignedSkillsHigh school diploma7+ years of experience processing/managing full payroll cycle with a small to medium size organizationMust have experience processing multi-state payrollStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, confidentiality, and ability to meet strict deadlinesPaylocity experience highly desiredCompany OverviewAt Ghidotti Berger, we represent secured creditors, banks, lenders, investors and foreclosure trustees in transactional, litigation and bankruptcy matters.
