[Remote] Payroll Accountant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Pavago is seeking a Payroll Accountant to manage payroll operations for client organizations. This role is critical for ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining audit-ready records. The Payroll Accountant will handle the end-to-end payroll lifecycle and support various financial reporting needs.ResponsibilitiesAdminister bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls for 50–500 employeesValidate employee time entries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions before each runProcess payroll through systems like ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or BambooHRPost payroll transactions into QuickBooks, NetSuite, or XeroReconcile payroll clearing accounts with bank statementsRecord benefit deductions and employer contributions accuratelyPrepare and submit payroll taxes at federal, state, and local levelsFile quarterly/annual forms (941, W-2, 1099, state equivalents)Track changes in labor/tax regulations and adjust processes accordinglyReconcile healthcare, retirement, and other benefit contributions with provider invoicesEnsure deductions align with employee elections and company policyRespond to payroll inquiries (pay stubs, direct deposit, tax withholding changes) within SLAAssist employees with onboarding payroll setupGenerate recurring payroll and headcount reports for HR and financeSupport audits with detailed payroll documentationProvide variance analysis of payroll vs. budgetStreamline workflows using Excel macros, payroll integrations, or APIsDocument payroll SOPs for consistency and complianceSkills2+ years payroll processing experienceHands-on use of at least one payroll system (ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Gusto, BambooHR)Intermediate Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations)Knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulationsCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)Multi-state or international payrollExperience reconciling payroll with accounting entriesFamiliarity with HRIS/payroll integrations (BambooHR, Zenefits, Workday)Company OverviewPavago - Thinking Globally to Grow Locally 🌍 Welcome to Pavago, where the world is your talent pool.
