[Remote] Patient Financial Services Associate

The Patient Financial Services Associate is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial services to patients, including insurance verification, billing inquiries, and payment resolution while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.ResponsibilitiesServe as a primary point of contact for patient financial inquiries via phone, portal, or written correspondenceExplain insurance benefits, coverage limitations, patient responsibility, and payment options in a clear, professional mannerProvide cost estimates and financial counseling as appropriateProvide daily guidance, coaching, and support to Patient Financial Services RepresentativesServe as the first level of escalation for complex patient, billing, or account issuesVerify insurance eligibility and benefits and document findings accurately in the systemReview patient accounts for accuracy, including demographic, coverage, and billing informationSubmit, review, and follow up on insurance claims and patient balances as assignedIdentify and resolve billing discrepancies, underpayments, or denials within defined workflowsSupport staff in explaining insurance benefits, patient responsibility, payment plans, and financial assistance optionsCollect patient payments and establish payment plans per organizational policyPost payments and adjustments accurately when assignedEnsure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable state and federal regulationsMaintain confidentiality of all patient and financial informationFollow departmental policies, procedures, and documentation standardsOther duties as assignedSkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredStrong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skillsBasic computer proficiency including MS Office applicationsExperience using electronic health records or practice management systemsWorking knowledge of insurance plans, benefit structures, and patient billing processesFamiliarity with front-end and post-service revenue cycle workflowsPrior experience handling escalated patient financial inquiries1–3 years of experience in Patient Financial Services, medical billing, or revenue cycle operations preferredExperience in a multi-specialty or high-volume healthcare environmentBenefitsExcellent growth and advancement opportunitiesDynamic environmentAccess to a diverse network of practitionersBroad infrastructure of tools and programs to enhance the employee experienceCompetitive CompensationGenerous PTOBenefits package: health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.Company OverviewSpire Orthopedic Partners provides capital and management services to orthopedic and spine physicians.
