They are seeking an Outside Sales representative to develop and maintain business relationships with customers in Northern Michigan, ensuring sales and profit goals are met.ResponsibilitiesDevelop business relationships with existing and potential new customersUnderstand customer business models and product needsUnderstand related industry terminology and applications of productsPossesses advanced business acumen and technical knowledge to position CIS as a value-added strategic solutions partnerUses knowledge of manufacturing economics to communicate costs, identify cost drivers, and develop solutionsDevelop cutting tool solutions for customers that meet or exceed their requirementsExpand sales with end users relative to annual sales goalsFunction as subject-matter expert on all product lines and technology that CIS providesWork with customer to show tangible cost-savings and value and submit related monthly cost-savings reports to managerPerform tool tests for end usersProvide territory & customer progress reports and opportunities for growth, including detailed sales forecasts/projections & appropriate CRM account data entriesResponsible for contacting and interacting with prospective new customersMaintain relationships with CIS vendors to help grow their portfolio. Provides regular account updates to satisfy vendor requirementsMaintain established margin objectivesUnderstand vendor tool pricing and product application/function as a liaison to achieve continued and additional salesMaintain accurate sales records and generates various reports relevant to marketing and salesPerform regular customer business reviewsDevelop a personal business plan with annual goals, including key account strategic sales plansTravel as neededConsult with manager and leadership team to identify and solve potential problemsWork closely with other teams and departments on projects as neededWork with the accounting department to help ensure receivables are current and communicates forecasting of potential negative financial implicationsAttend product training, seminars, and other educational opportunities to advance skillsAttend industry trade shows, exhibitions, etcPerform other duties as assignedSkillsCollege degree or trade school preferred but not required3+ years of outside sales in HSS, carbide and cutting tool application experienceExperience and knowledge of business to business sales techniquesExperience in manufacturing or industrial salesKnowledge of metal cutting tools requiredProven track record of managing and growing an industrial sales territoryAbility to quickly build relationships with key decision-makers and end usersKnowledgeable about selling VMI programsMust be able to work at all levels within the customer account (operations, end users, purchasing, engineering, upper management, department-heads, etc.)Strong presentation skills, including general ability to use Power PointWorking knowledge of web/digital servicesAbility to operate a personal computer, including use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)Ability to effectively use databases and other similar on-line systems and related softwareBe able to physically visit customer locations throughout a specified territoryCustomer Service - Responds promptly to customer needs and fulfills commitmentsInterpersonal Skills - Is respectful and able to relate well with othersOral Communication - Responds well to questions; demonstrates ability to convey messageWritten Communication - Able to read, interpret, and convey information effectivelyTeamwork - Able to work effectively on a team, giving and welcoming feedbackAnalytical - Uses facts, intuition, data, and experience to make decisionsProblem Solving - Gathers & analyzes information; identifies & resolves problemsTechnical Skills - Pursues training and development; shares expertise with othersChange Management - Is open to change and supports others affected by changeCost Consciousness - Uses organizational resources wisely and effectivelyDiversity - Shows respect and sensitivity towards differences of othersEthics - Works with integrity and performs work honestlyOrganizational Support - Follows policies & procedures; supports organization's goals & valuesStrategic Thinking - Adapts strategy to changing conditionsJudgment - Exhibits sound decisions; explains logic and involves othersMotivation - Demonstrates desire to succeed and achieve excellencePlanning/Organizing - Prioritizes work activities; manages time; sets goals and action plansProfessionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressureQuality - Demonstrates accuracy & thoroughness; looks for ways to improve qualityAdaptability - Adapts to change; able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected eventsAttendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work, meetings, appointments on timeDependability - Follows instructions and completes work as directedInitiative/ Resourceful - Asks for help and finds answers when neededCompany OverviewCreston Industrial Sales provides reliable and professional tooling services and continues to serve manufacturers, industrial engineers.
