[Remote] Organ Placement Coordinator - Legacy of Hope

They are seeking an Organ Placement Coordinator who will manage the allocation, recovery, and transportation of organs, requiring critical thinking and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
• Schedule: This is a remote position and requires 12-15 days of 24-hour call per month, or the equivalent of 12 hour shifts (3-4 shifts/wk) with rotating day/night shifts
• Organ Placement Coordinators schedules include weekends and holidays with on call responsibilities as scheduled
• The Organ Placement Coordinator (OPC) is a critical position which requires the ability to think critically and quickly determine the best course of action in the highly dynamic organ donation process
• The role encompasses the allocation of organs, their surgical recovery, perfusion, packaging and transportation
• The OPC will be trained to perform assigned role responsibilities
• The OPC will receive organ import offers from outside agencies and communicate those offers to the appropriate local transplant surgeon utilizing some developed pathways and their own critical thinking skills as most situations are difficult to cover with protocols/pathways
• The OPC will track all pending organ offers and update appropriate parties as indicated
• If an organ is accepted, the OPC coordinates the travel arrangements related to recovery and transport
• The OPC will participate in abdominal organ allocation for local LoH donors which will require this individual to have excellent communication skills, judgment and follow-through
• OPCs are required to complete all documentation accurately and promptly
• The OPC is expected to comply with all LoH standard operating procedures (SOPs), local, state, and federal requirements as applicable

Skills
• Vocational certificate or degree in Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technologist or biological sciences degree required
• Should be licensed or certified within their field of practice as applicable
• Previous surgical or medical experience in the organ or tissue donation industry may substitute for education requirements
• Must be self-directed / self-motivated
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
• Must accept responsibility for the direction, control and planning of one's own work
• Must work independently
• Must recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
• Must convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief
• Must relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation
• Must communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background
• Must exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment
• Must perform effectively when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations
• Must demonstrate the quality work ethic of doing the right thing the right way
• Must maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy the customer's perceived needs
• Bachelor's degree
• CPTC or CPT certification
• Prior experience at an organ procurement organization
