[Remote] Operations Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Verra Mobility is responsible for remote technical support and oversight of roadside monitoring and enforcement implementations. The Operations Engineer will focus on building, integrating, and automating platforms to ensure the reliability and scalability of roadside operations.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and implement integration solutions across multiple platforms, ensuring data, workflows, and monitoring tools interoperate seamlesslyBuild and maintain automation tools using Python, PowerShell, C++, other scripting languages and GitHub (revision control) to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and streamline troubleshootingWork closely with Operations Technicians and Supervisors to understand frontline needs, translating them into scalable engineering solutions that improve uptime and service qualityDevelop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tools that ensure roadside equipment and supporting platforms run at peak efficiencyContribute to engineering initiatives, including platform rollouts, API integrations, and system upgrades, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and aligned with business goalsEnsure engineering solutions support SLA compliance and help operations teams deliver consistent, high-quality serviceIdentify opportunities for improved efficiency in system monitoring, incident resolution, and configuration management; design and implement solutions that scaleDevelop detailed documentation, runbooks, and training materials to ensure engineering solutions can be adopted and maintained effectively by operations teamsEngage in agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning) to align engineering deliverables with operational needs and company objectivesProvide advanced technical support for complex incidents, collaborating with operations teams to resolve issues quickly and permanentlySkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of 4–7 years of experience in system integration, platform development, or operations engineeringStrong proficiency in Python, Java, C++, PowerShell, and other scripting languages for automation, with hands-on experience in GitHub-based development workflowsExperience with Oracle and SQL Server databases for integration, data analysis, and troubleshootingDemonstrated experience with APIs, system integrations, and automation frameworksExperience developing web-based applications and working with load balancers is a plusProven ability to design and implement tools that improve operational performance, monitoring, and troubleshootingStrong collaborative skills with experience working closely with operations teams, translating operational needs into engineering solutionsExcellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, 24x7x365 environmentPreferred experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment practicesFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and their integration with enterprise applicationsAdvanced skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with preferred experience in Power BI, Visio, and OutlookAgile/Scrum certification (Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Scrum Fundamentals) is preferredCompany OverviewVerra Mobility provides smart mobility, traffic enforcement, and fleet solutions that improve road safety and transportation efficiency.
