[Remote] Network Engineer, Real-Time Infrastructure

As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and optimizing the global network infrastructure to ensure ultra-low-latency performance for real-time audio streaming, while collaborating with various teams to support both inference and training workloads.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and optimize Deepgram's global network for real-time audio streaming, minimizing latency across geographic regionsDesign and manage CDN and edge computing strategies to bring processing closer to end usersConfigure and maintain BGP routing, including peering relationships and route optimization for multi-cloud and bare metal environmentsImplement and tune load balancing solutions that intelligently distribute traffic across heterogeneous infrastructure (cloud, bare metal, GPU clusters)Build and optimize multi-cloud networking architectures spanning AWS, other cloud providers, and on-premises data centersDesign and maintain bare metal networking including top-of-rack switching, spine-leaf architectures, and high-bandwidth GPU interconnectsDevelop latency measurement, monitoring, and optimization tooling to continuously improve network performancePlan and execute network capacity expansions as Deepgram's traffic and infrastructure footprint growCollaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to ensure network designs support both real-time inference and large-scale training workloadsEstablish network security best practices including segmentation, DDoS mitigation, and access control policiesSkills5+ years of experience in network engineering, including design, implementation, and operationsDeep expertise with BGP, OSPF, and other dynamic routing protocols in production environmentsHands-on experience designing and operating load balancing solutions at scaleStrong understanding of CDN architectures and content delivery optimizationExperience with cloud networking, specifically AWS VPC design, transit gateways, peering, and hybrid connectivityPractical experience with bare metal networking -- switch configuration, VLAN design, physical infrastructureSolid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, and HTTP/2 / HTTP/3 performance optimizationExperience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis toolsExperience with real-time streaming protocols (WebSocket, WebRTC, RTP/RTSP) and optimizing networks for media trafficKnowledge of GPU cluster networking including InfiniBand, RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet), and high-bandwidth interconnectsExperience with multi-cloud networking spanning AWS, GCP, and/or AzureFamiliarity with network automation and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)Experience with anycast routing and global traffic managementBackground in network performance optimization for latency-sensitive applicationsUnderstanding of DDoS mitigation strategies and network security at scaleBenefitsMedical, dental, vision benefitsAnnual wellness stipendMental health supportLife, STD, LTD Income Insurance PlansUnlimited PTOGenerous paid parental leaveFlexible schedule12 Paid US company holidaysQuarterly personal productivity stipendOne-time stipend for home office upgrades401(k) plan with company matchTax Savings ProgramsLearning / Education stipendParticipation in talks and conferencesEmployee Resource GroupsAI enablement workshops / sessionsFor candidates outside of the US, we use an Employer of Record model in many countries, which means benefits are administered locally and governed by country-specific regulations.
