[Remote] MTS 1, Software Engineer

The MTS 1, Software Engineer will work on backend systems that power real commerce, collaborating with product and engineering partners to deliver scalable solutions for the Nexpart platform.ResponsibilitiesDefine technical requirements in partnership with product, business, and engineering stakeholdersDesign, develop, and maintain scalable web and mobile applicationsBuild and maintain server-side processing and parsing scriptsDesign, implement, and maintain APIs and integrations with third-party platformsLead and assist other developers in implementing high-quality solutionsFollow established frontend and API design and coding standardsParticipate in code reviews as both a contributor and reviewerCollaborate closely with development, QA, and internal business teamsCreate and maintain system and technical documentation as neededPerform application maintenance, bug fixes, and performance optimizationsMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues using logging and observability toolsFollow the software development lifecycle as defined by engineering and project leadershipLeverage AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speedSkillsBA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience5+ years of experience working in an Apache, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MSSQL, and MySQL environmentStrong hands-on experience with PHP MVC frameworksDeep knowledge of SQL, with MSSQL experience requiredStrong understanding of web services, APIs, and SOA architecturesFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflowsAwareness of web application security best practicesSolid experience with object-oriented design and development principlesExperience developing modern front-end user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks such as Vue, React, jQueryStrong familiarity with Git and modern version control workflowsExcellent English communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work effectively in cross-functional, fast-paced environmentsExperience developing and supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing applicationsFamiliarity with performance optimization, security best practices, and scalable system designExperience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadershipBenefitsA target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable)A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave)Company OvervieweBay is a global online marketplace enabling users to buy, sell, and auction new or used items across various categories.
