[Remote] Mortgage Underwriter (FHA, VA, SAR, LAPP)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. HighTechLending, Inc is seeking a qualified FHA/VA Underwriter with current DE and LAPP/SAR certifications. The ideal candidate will review and underwrite FHA and VA loan files, ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory requirements while making sound credit decisions.

Responsibilities
• Review and underwrite FHA and VA loan files in accordance with HUD and VA guidelines
• Evaluate credit, income, asset, and collateral documentation to determine creditworthiness and risk
• Ensure loans meet investor, agency, and company policy requirements
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure compliance with lending guidelines
• Identify potential fraud risks and implement preventive measures
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly to internal teams and clients
• Collaborate with loan officers to facilitate the underwriting process
• Stay current on industry regulations, investor updates, and underwriting best practices
• Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures

Skills
• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) certification (required)
• VA LAPP/SAR certification (required)
• 5+ years of experience underwriting FHA and VA loans
• Conventional loan underwriting experience
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of agency guidelines
• Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet established turn times
• Familiarity with Non-QM products (a plus)
