Remote Microsoft Engineer/HIPAA

A client we are working with is hiring for a Microsoft Engineer for a remote position supporting the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT) with a growing organization in the healthcare and regulated-services space. This is a full-time role focused on administering and securing the Microsoft 365 suite alongside a strong Azure cloud environment, supporting systems that must meet strict HIPAA compliance requirements. You'll work in a modern Microsoft-first ecosystem where reliability, security, and compliance are critical to the business.

You will be helping shape how cloud and collaboration technologies are implemented in a HIPAA-regulated environment. The team is looking for someone who understands not just how Microsoft tools work, but how to secure and optimize them for real-world healthcare use cases. You'll gain deep exposure to Azure identity, security, and compliance tooling, while enjoying a remote-first culture that values work-life balance, continuous learning, and long-term career growth within the Microsoft ecosystem.
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience as a Microsoft Engineer or Systems Engineer
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams)
Strong experience with Azure (Azure AD / Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Networking, Security)
Experience supporting HIPAA-compliant environments
Identity and access management experience (MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC)
Experience with endpoint management (Intune / MDM)
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience with Microsoft Defender (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365)
Familiarity with Azure Security Center and compliance policies
PowerShell scripting for automation and administration
Experience supporting healthcare or regulated industries
Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, M365, Security)
