[Remote] Metrology and Data Analytics Engineer

In this role, the Metrology and Data Analytics Engineer will work within the Fabrication Process Engineering team to develop and improve metrology protocols critical for the company's photonic quantum computing hardware.ResponsibilitiesWork with Xanadu engineers to define, develop and implement inline metrology flows for monitoring critical materials and device parameters on a variety of different technology platformsInnovate and improve upon inline metrology protocols to achieve higher resolution measurements of key parameters, enable measurements of hard-to-measure features, etcBuild, monitor and analyze SPC charts to understand variations and specs, categorize outliers, RCA, and provide remedial measuresDeliver metrology and data analysis solutions to improve yield, wafer performance, and overall productivityCoordinate with internal software development and data analysis teams to improve data quality and enable quantitative modeling and decision makingDesign experiments for tool demos and identify new metrology techniques to assist in rapid process developmentInnovate in the space of metrology and failure analysisStay abreast of new developments in the fields of metrology and failure analysis, especially related to photonics fabrication process developmentSkillsMS or PhD in materials science, physics, nanoengineering or related field≥ 3 years of experience developing inline metrology flows for photonics and/or semiconductor chip fabricationExperience working in a foundry environment for integrated photonics and/or semiconductor products, including experience owning lots, working with an MES, etcStrong familiarity or mastery of several standard semiconductor and photonics metrology and failure analysis techniques, including some subset of: XPS, Overlay, OCD, SEM, TEM, AFM, defect inspection, ellipsometry, XRR/XRD, SIMS, Raman spectroscopy, etcExperience with statistical analysis techniques and associated programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, etc.)Demonstrated track record of method development, innovation and making improvements in the field of integrated photonics and/or semiconductor metrologyExperience coordinating with and managing external partners, including major semiconductor and photonics foundries, external metrology labs, and/or metrology tool vendorsExperience purchasing metrology tools, including performing best-of-breed evaluations, defining tool acceptance criteria, etcStrong critical thinking skillsDemonstrated ability to tackle challenging problems and develop innovative solutionsExcellent communication skills and strong sense of teamworkAbility to travel for work up to ~25% time≥ 6 years of experience developing inline metrology flows for photonics and/or semiconductor chip fabricationExperience characterizing multiple material systems, such as silicon-based materials, dielectrics, crystalline electro-optic materials, III-Vs, etcExperience with metrology development for ultra-low loss photonic componentsPrior experience owning metrology and characterization toolsExperience working in fabless companiesExperience with Material management systemsCompany OverviewXanadu provides hardware, software, applications, and simulators for quantum computing.
