Position Overview: We are seeking a Medical Biller with comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health insurance billing. The Medical Biller will be responsible for the accurate and timely billing of all professional and facility services claims, ensuring all billing activities comply with applicable regulations. In this role, you will work closely with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues. Key Responsibilities: • Billing and Coding: Review medical records to assign appropriate billing codes (ICD 10, CPT, HCPCS) for procedures and diagnoses. • Claims Submission: Prepare and submit accurate and timely insurance claims to insurance companies. • Insurance Verification: Verify patients’ insurance coverage and eligibility for services. • Follow-up: Monitor unpaid claims and follow up with insurance companies and patients to ensure prompt payment. • Payment Posting: Record payments received and reconcile accounts. • Denials Management: Investigate and appeal claim denials as necessary. • Patient Billing: Generate patient statements and answer billing inquiries. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED required, associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred. Experience: • Must have behavioral health billing experience • Healthcare Payment posting experience • Familiarity with claims software and clearinghouses • Familiarity with both governmental and commercials insurance plans • Understanding of UB-04 and 1500 forms • Experience with denial and appeal processes • Ability to review and interpret EOBs and reason codes • Ability to learn new software quickly • Understanding of HIPAA • Professional communication skills Skills and Abilities: • Strong understanding of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10) and insurance reimbursement processes. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Team player who can also work independently • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Knowledge of Tebra Software preferred but not required.
