[Remote] Mechanical Project Engineer, Customer Support

This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure system reliability and performance improvements through engineering initiatives.ResponsibilitiesSupport Customer Support and Sales teams by providing engineering input for system upgrades, retrofits, and modernization proposalsAssist Service and Project Managers with field support, commissioning assistance, and troubleshooting of installed systemsEvaluate existing system configurations and customer requirements to develop engineering solutions for modifications and improvementsAssess system performance, manufacturing feasibility, cost, and maintenance implications of proposed changes to installed equipmentDevelop and modify system layouts and components using 2D and 3D CAD tools, including steel structures, sheet metal parts, and BEUMER equipment. Optimize designs for maintainability, cost-efficiency, and operational performancePrepare engineering documentation including specifications, as-built updates, and service-related technical documentationCoordinate and support implementation activities, including fabrication, procurement, and installation of retrofit or replacement componentsCollaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless execution of service projectsMaintain accurate records, including engineering changes, service reports, and technical documentationDevelop and support project schedules for service-related engineering efforts, including sequencing of retrofit and upgrade activitiesReview system designs against customer requirements, operational standards, and performance expectationsSupport and lead smaller-scale service engineering projects, including retrofit initiatives and system enhancements (typically within defined service project scopes)Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and reduce downtimeSkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within material handling, automated systems, or service/support environmentsExperience in mechanical design for automated machinery or material handling equipmentBroad understanding of machine technologies including mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic controls integrationProficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling toolsStrong knowledge of manufacturing processes, drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerancingFamiliarity with electrical motors, power transmission, and system integration conceptsUnderstanding of IBC and OSHA requirements related to material handling systemsAbility to analyze existing systems and develop practical engineering solutions in live operational environmentsStrong problem-solving skills with focus on reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle performanceAbility to coordinate across multiple disciplines including engineering, service, and operations teamsExperience supporting retrofit, upgrade, or field-based engineering activities is highly valuedEffective use of engineering and project tools to manage service-related workExcellent time management and attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skills, especially in customer-facing situationsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-driven environmentSelf-motivated, proactive, and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skillsStrong listening skills and customer-focused mindsetAbility to travel domestically and internationally to support customer sites and service activities up to 25%BenefitsMedical & Dental Premiums: We cover 100% of the premiums for you and your eligible dependents.401(k) with Generous Match: Secure your financial future with our competitive retirement plan.Life Insurance / Long Term Disability: Peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
