They are seeking experienced Mechanical / Piping Designers and Checkers to join their team, focusing on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs within the nuclear market.ResponsibilitiesUtilize 3D design software such as SmartPlant 3D, Bentley OpenPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D (or other 3D design software) to create 3D equipment models based off equipment drawings and provide technical guidance to lower-level designers/drafters to ensure work is completed accurately and to our standardsDesign piping systems and generate isometric drawings for systems typical industrial facilities and power generation facilities, but not limited to, process steam, process water, drains, and general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems, condensate, blowdown, circulating water, cooling and chilled water, and underground piping utilitiesPerform early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangementDevelop, monitor and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standardsNavigate 3D models and check for interferences and constructabilitySupport the construction team including representing the design team on-site, answering RFI’s, providing creative design solutions, etcComplete miscellaneous tasks to support project or department developmentCoordinate with other design partners (both internal and external) including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project or task and review work progress and resultsDevelop schedules, work assignments, staffing requirements and support detailed estimates to ensure successful project completionTrain, mentor, and advise lower-level designers and support staff on proper application of industry standards and best practicesReports task progress to Lead DesignerSkillsBachelor's or associate degree in computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, Engineering or related fieldExperience with design software such as SmartPlant 3D (or similar plant design 3D software) and Microstation and AutoCAD requiredA minimum of 10-15 years of 3D modeling/detailed design experience is required, with the ability to perform 3D piping design, equipment layout, develop construction drawings. Experience validating and coordinating with other disciplines for compliance with layoutsExperience in Nuclear, Industrial, Power, Oil and gas, performing balance of plant type of design, (piping, pumps, valves, heating, cooling systems, is required).
