About the Role Our client, a pioneering research and development firm specializing in novel energy solutions, is seeking a talented and highly motivated Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to join their distributed engineering team. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking projects from anywhere in the U.S. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and refining advanced mechanical systems and prototypes for next-generation energy technologies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, adept at leveraging digital collaboration tools, and passionate about driving innovation from concept through to validated design, all within a virtual setting. Key Responsibilities Develop innovative mechanical designs for cutting-edge energy systems, components, and prototypes using advanced CAD software. Conduct rigorous theoretical analysis and use simulation tools (FEA, CFD) to predict performance, optimize designs, and identify potential failure modes. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation suitable for remote collaboration and production. Collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team of researchers, engineers, and technicians through virtual communication platforms. Manage the design lifecycle of assigned components and systems, ensuring timely delivery of design packages and technical documentation. Facilitate virtual design reviews, document feedback, and implement necessary design revisions. Stay informed about the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, materials science, and renewable energy technologies relevant to our client's focus areas. Coordinate with external manufacturing partners and suppliers for prototyping and testing of developed components, providing remote support. Contribute to the development and refinement of remote engineering workflows and best practices. Maintain accurate and organized design records in a shared digital environment. Requirements Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong emphasis on R&D. Demonstrated expertise with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL). Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and materials science principles. Proven experience in designing and analyzing complex mechanical systems, preferably in the energy sector or advanced technology domains. Exceptional skills in remote collaboration, digital communication, and project management using online tools. Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills to thrive in an independent, remote work setting. Strong problem-solving capabilities and a creative approach to design challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to virtual interactions. Eligibility to work full-time in the United States.
