The role requires a strong mechanical systems background, focusing on P&ID diagramming, HVAC systems, and related mechanical infrastructure, while ensuring compliance and performance standards are met.ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical system designs for offsite manufacturing products and systems across multiple complex projectsCreate and interpret P&ID diagrams for piping, instrumentation, HVAC, chiller, and heating systemsDesign and support hydronic piping systems, especially those tied to HVAC, chilled water, and heating applicationsCollaborate with design, mechanical, electrical, structural, and construction teams to ensure integrated project executionCreate detailed engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical models or simulationsParticipate in client-facing and internal coordination discussions to solve design challenges, reduce risk, and finalize project solutionsMake sound engineering decisions in the review and approval of drawings, specifications, and project documentationReview vendor drawings and confirm alignment with engineering requirementsEvaluate materials and construction methods for performance, constructability, and cost efficiencyPartner with manufacturing teams to support designs that improve production, transportation, assembly, and field installationConduct shop and field visits to verify constructability and support operational successStay current on evolving engineering methods and innovations related to offsite and modular constructionContribute to research and development efforts tied to new product development and continuous improvementPrepare technical studies, specifications, cost estimates, and proposal evaluationsSkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution4+ years of engineering analysis and design experience within mechanical building systems, HVAC, hydronic piping, chiller systems, heating systems, or related infrastructureRequired experience with P&ID diagramming, including piping and instrumentation design for mechanical systemsRequired experience with hydronic piping systems, preferably within HVAC, chilled water, heating, or central plant environmentsBackground working for an HVAC mechanical contractor, or as a Facility Engineer within a university, hospital, healthcare system, or similar large-campus environmentStrong communication skills with the ability to work across teams and interact effectively with clientsAbility to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiencesStrong technical writing and documentation skillsFamiliarity with applicable building and engineering codes such as ASCE, AISC, and IBCAbility to produce and manage engineering drawings independently and in coordination with broader design teamsStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple project demands at onceSound judgment in engineering decisions and project executionAbility to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of workProactive, solutions-oriented mindsetAbility to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-moving environmentExperience with engineering and design tools such as SAP2000, STAAD, Revit, Inventor, TEKLA, AutoCAD, or similar platformsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and intermediate Excel capabilityExperience with chillers, heating systems, mechanical rooms, central utility plants, or complex facility mechanical systems strongly preferredPE license preferredCompany OverviewCCA Professional Recruiting (https://CCArecruit.com) delivers nationwide executive search and professional recruiting with speed, precision, and certainty.
